SGS Presentation Guidelines
The following guidelines have been generated by past SBM students:
- If you do not regularly attend SGS, please attend at least 1 class before you present in order to understand the quality of presentation expected.
- Do not simply read the cases, but provide insight!
- Present as though your peers have never heard of the disease previously.
- Include/review the normal values (CBC, chem 7, etc.) and explain where the abnormalities in the cases lie.
- Please insert normal histo/anatomy/etc. slides for comparison so that the pathologies are clearer.
- Provide a summary (in the power point and orally) for each case, highlighting the major “take home points” for each disease.
- It is not necessary to go through each of the questions, therefore the presenter may highlight the “pertinent” questions.
- All power points, with the additional slides inserted by the presenter, will be posted online and will be accessible for the group members.
- Quality is more important than quantity. There is no time requirement for how long a presentation should be but we just expect the power point to be of high quality.
