Action for Young Athletes in Chicago (AFYAC)

AFYAC
believes that participating in athletics keeps young students
motivated to do well in school and fosters an environment in which they can learn leadership, discipline and good citizenship,
despite socioeconomic barriers. Our goal as medical students, with the help of volunteer physicians and residents, is to support Chicago
Public School athletes' participation in sports by providing free pre-season physicals, education on sports injury prevention and nutrition, and mentorship.
Alternative Spring Break Program

The Alternative Spring Break Program is dedicated to the organization and implementation of community service trips to various underserved communities in the United States during the medical school
spring break week. The organization aims to broaden students' understanding about the effects of poverty on health and healthcare while simultaneously providing medical and non-medical services to an underserved community.

AMWA student chapter supports the advancement of women in medicine and
strives to improve women's health education. We develop leadership
within the medical student community and provide networking, advocacy,
education, faculty mentoring and support for political action. Northwestern's AMWA
participates at school, city-wide, regional and national levels. We
welcome the participation of all medical students in our activities.

APAMSA
strives to serve the student body in four different capacities:
cultural, social, educational and philanthropy. The services are especially focused for Asian-American medical students, providing an avenue where Asian-American issues and concerns may be addressed. APAMSA's current activities include planning an
International Film Festival, holding annual holiday celebrations,
organizing outings, inviting speakers to discuss Asian-American-related medical issues and organizing an annual bone marrow drive.

After
a nearly two-year hiatus, three first-year medical students
resuscitated the student-run newspaper in the spring of 2007. The Beat presents to the medical student population a public forum for
sharing new ideas, opinions, news, and hopefully, an overall enjoyable read. Each issue provides students with an opportunity to
voice their opinions and express their writing talents, and fosters discussion and debate in the medical school community. Interested

Brew Appreciation Club (BAC)

The BAC promotes the tasting of finely crafted and exquisite beers from both domestic and foreign microbreweries. The BAC encourages students to share knowledge of ales and lagers alike, in order to encourage the understanding of this emergent art. The BAC also supports students who produce their own spirits and
enlighten others in the science of homebrewing. Lastly, the BAC would like to set an example for the University by strongly endorsing responsible drinking and moderation.

Business and Medicine Club seeks to better understand the relationship
between the business world and medicine. Through that
understanding, physicians will be able to conquer both aspects of their
career and become rich beyond their wildest dreams!
Camp Wildcat

Camp
Wildcat is an NUFSOM student-run club that cooperates with Chicago
Youth Programs to provide a group of underprivileged, at-risk Chicago children the opportunity to participate in positive
recreational activities. The three main events throughout the
year are a Halloween party, a field trip to the medical school and a weekend
long camp. The goal of the program is to create a venue in which the children can be exposed to camping activities and the outdoors- an experience most likely not accessible otherwise.
Cardiology Clinic

The Cardiology Clinic seeks to give medical students early clinical experiences in Cardiology and to provide needed care in an underserved community in Chicago's west side. The group also plans 2-3 education talks for students per year on careers in Cardiology and current issues in heart disease.
Catholic Medical Student Association (CMSA)

CMSA
seeks to promote spiritual and moral values, foster the development of
spiritual life and worship, offer opportunities for service to the greater community and provide a forum for medical
students to congregate and share their experiences. In addition, CMSA seeks to understand and converse with people of various faiths and those who do not profess a faith, to come to a better understanding and integration of the complex issues regarding religion, ethics and morals.
Chinatown Clinic

The
Chinatown Clinic arranges for Feinberg students to volunteer at a
weekly clinic in Cermak Chinatown. The clinic provides free primary medical care to the indigent public. In the spring,
the Chinatown Clinic organizes a health screening fair open to the public, which brings together NUFSOM students, students from other schools, translators and attendings of many specialties. Throughout the year, the clinic promotes community service
opportunities for Feinberg students to further enrich their education.
Christian Medical Association (CMA)

CMA exists to motivate, educate and equip Christian physicians to glorify God by: living out the character of Christ in their homes, practices, communities and around the world; pursuing professional competence and Christ-like compassion in their daily

right relationship with Jesus Christ; advancing Biblical principals in bioethics and health to the Church and society.
Community Health Clinic (CHC)

The Community Health Clinic at NUFSOM is a service organization dedicated to providing medical care to the patients of Community Health Clinic, a free outpatient medical clinic, while providing NUFSOM students an informal environment to learn from one another and from attending physicians.
Community Health Clinic: Psychiatry (CHC-Psych)

CHC Psych strives to 1) raise awareness among medical students regarding mental health needs, 2) provide an opportunity for medical students to work with Northwestern residents and physicians in providing community-based psychiatric care at CHC and 3) respond to an unmet need for psychiatric health services at CHC.
CHC Psych is the only student group at Feinberg that seeks to provide psychiatric care in a vulnerable population.
Chicago Youth Programs Clinic (CYP)

The Cabrini Green Youth Program was founded in 1984 by a group of NUFSOM students. Today, CYP partners Northwestern Law and Medical students with over 125 youths ages 3-18 from Cabrini Green, Washington Park and the Uptown community, for weekly mentoring activities. Medical students also participate in CYP
Clinic every Wednesday from 4-7:30pm with volunteer physicians from Children's Memorial Hospital.
Dance Interest Group (DIG)

The
Dance Interest Group is an organization of medical students with
interest in any dance form, including ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, modern, lyrical and ballroom. DIG serves as a resource to
students with any level of dance experience who would like to perform, choreograph, take classes from dance studios and participate
in group trips to dance performances. DIG is featured yearly in the In Vivo Show with a number of unique, high-energy routines.
Devon Clinic

The Devon Clinic aims to be a student-run clinic with medical students from several of the medical schools around Chicago, working together in a collaborative effort to provide medical care to

Enviromed is a student organization dedicated to raising awareness and developing service projects about environmental issues and their related health concerns. Major projects include the PBL
recycling initiative, battery and ink cartridge drives and Earth Week. Enviromed's goal is to help the Northwestern community and beyond understand the close link between environmental problems and human health in order to promote more sustainable behavior and thinking.
Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG)

The mission of the NU FMIG is to expose medical students to the fulfilling careers and array of opportunities within the Dep't of Family Medicine. Panel discussions, lectures, conferences and

Feinberg Collegium for Neurological Surgery (Feinberg-CNS)

Feinberg-CNS promotes student interest and education in the field of neurosurgery through exposure to faculty neurosurgeons and conferences held by the Dep't of Neurological Surgery. This
exposure includes but is not limited to: speakers, surgical skills
sessions, residency application advice, research opportunities, faculty
mentorship and career counseling. This organization hopes to
foster early awareness in interested students who wish to pursue a career in this
field as well as provide opportunities for education and research.
FUSION

FUSION is Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine's annual multicultural show featuring song, dance, fashion and other acts from various ethnicities. It is a joint effort from
all of the multicultural groups on campus and all proceeds from the
show benefit various Chicagoland charities and student-run clinics.
Global Medical Relief Program (GlobeMed)

GlobeMed
is a student group dedicated to providing medical supplies and
promoting quality healthcare to developing countries and regions suffering from natural disasters. Nationally, GlobeMed
has provided supplies and care to over 15 developing countries around the world. At Feinberg, GlobeMed has primarily worked to support
the Ghana-Outlook AIDS Clinic in Ho, Ghana, to provide a forum for international health issues, and to organize supply drives, fundraisers and the Global AIDS Awareness Week.
Health Disparities Taskforce (HDTF)

HDTF
seeks to raise awareness about and spark student interest in
disparities found in healthcare access and quality in the United States. HDTF's goal is to educate medical students and other
members of the medical community, with the ultimate objective of creating a conscious group of individuals well-versed in the pertinent
issues and dedicated to bring about change. An additional goal of HDTF is to promote the incorporation of information about health disparities into the permanent curriculum at NUFSOM.
In Vivo

In Vivo is an annual medical comedy show that raises money for charity.
Infoplex

Infoplex
is a student organization whose mission is to promote the use of online
resources throughout the medical school community. The organization administers several services aimed at medical
students, including a website, events calendar, electronic
mail listserv and a collection of electronic resources for students. All of these
services are aimed at increasing the awareness of any and all academic and extracurricular activities, as well as keeping the medical student community cohesive across the M1-M4 years.
Internal Medicine Society (IMS)

IMS
serves the NUFSOM community by informing students about opportunities
in internal medicine through talks, panel discussions, workshops and other activities. Events have included a talk on "What is
Internal Medicine?" and patient case presentations by the NUMS medicine clerkship director, panels of physicians discussing
specialties in internal medicine, a panel on matching for internal medicine residency and a chest x-ray workshop. IMS works with ACP-ASIM, the nation's largest medical specialty society.
Islamic Medical Association

The Islamic Medical Association provides activities for medical and nonmedical students that live in the downtown Chicago area, introducing and explaining the Islamic culture in order to promote
better care and understanding of Muslims and Muslim patients. Activities range from informational lectures, film viewings and social
events geared toward understanding Islam from a medical and general perspective. There is a weekly Juma'ah prayer, daily iftars during Ramadan and Eid celebrations.
Jewish Medical Student Organization (JMSO)

The JMSO is here to make your time in medical school as heimish as possible. Call us if you need any info on Jewish Chicago, or if you need a place to stay for shabbat. We will also be running some programs throughout the year on Jewish issues in medicine, as well as bringing the festive spirit of Channukah, Rosh Hashannah and Pesach to the Feinberg halls.
Jugulars

The
Jugulars is Feinberg's official juggling club, founded by Former
Dean of Students, Jack Snarr, and Beth Villavicencio (MD/PhD, Class of 2002) in 1998. The club meets twice weekly to learn new
tricks and relieve some stress. In addition, we also perform in shows at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, the annual medical
school comedy revue, In Vivo, and local elementary schools. The juggling club is open to anyone regardless of skill level--most people join without knowing how to juggle!
Latino Cultural Medical Association (LCMA)

Life Sciences Technology Club (LSTC)

The LSTC is a place for students interested in the entrepreneurial, research, business and legal aspects of medicine to network, share ideas, learn how to start up and market their ideas, and meet
speakers that have succeeded in these fields. LSTC is the medical school chapter of inNUvation, which is a collaboration among Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Business, McCormick School of Engineering and Law School.
Loyal Davis Surgical Society (LDSS)

LDSS
promotes student interest and education in the field of surgery and
provides an introduction to the various surgical specialties. The group acts as a campus resource by hosting events such as guest
speakers, lunch talks, surgical skills workshops, as well as facilitating access to research and shadowing opportunities. New
programs for this year include a "Transplant On-Call Program" and an "OR Shadowing Program." The group currently has over 250 members, consisting mostly of M1 and M2 students.
Medical Students for Choice (MSFC)

MSFC is a member of the national, not-for-profit organization of the same name dedicated to ensuring that women receive the full
range of reproductive healthcare choices. MSFC recognizes that one of
the greatest obstacles to safe and legal abortion is the absence of trained providers.

Musicians in Medicine

Musicians
in Medicine is open to anyone affiliated with NUFSOM with an interest
in music performance. We volunteer at local hospitals
and healthcare centers to play for patients, with a repertoire ranging

New Life Volunteering Society Clinic (NLVS)

NLVS Clinic provides the unique opportunity to work with medical students from throughout the Chicagoland area in a free clinic setting.
As a first-year medical student, you have a great opportunity to learn
from both your peers and the attending physicians in a practical on-site manner while seeing real cases. The clinic is located south of Devon Avenue and is open every Saturday from 10AM to 2PM.
Northwestern Outdoor Adventure Club (NOAC)

NOAC's purpose is to bring the outdoors, adventure and environmental conservation to a student body that spends a considerable amount of time indoors, sitting and studying. We aim
to offer adventure trips both locally and abroad as well to educate about wilderness medicine. We will instruct on and follow
the "Leave No Trace" principle and follow "minimal impact" guidelines on each trip.
Northwestern University Alliance for International Development (NU-AID)

OB/GYN Interest Group and Prenatal Program

The OB/GYN Interest Group and the Prenatal Program offers M1s and M2s the exciting opportunity to learn about obstetrics and women's healthcare, early in their medical school career. In the OB/GYN Interest Group, students have the opportunity to shadow in a variety of women's healthcare settings, including labor and delivery, gynecological surgeries, outpatient gynecology, genetics, maternal-fetal medicine, ultrasound, reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Shadowing takes place throughout
the year with physicians and midwives within the NMH system. The group also brings in speakers for lunchtime discussions. In the Prenatal Program, students are matched with pregnant women who are entering their second trimester and attend all prenatal visits, from routine checkups and ultrasound exams to amniocentesis. The experience culminates in the student
attending labor and delivery. From hands-on participation during physical exams and delivery, students gain unique and valuable experiences in long-term patient care.
Pediatrics Interest Group

The Pediatrics Interest Group seeks to inform the Feinberg medical community about the field of pediatrics and its sub-specialties. Programs include mentoring, shadowing, community service projects, and lunchtime taks about pediatric sub-specialties and important issues in pediatric medicine.
Personae

Personae
is the biannual literary and arts journal of the Northwestern medical
community. Personae gives students the chance to explore and
nourish their interest in the arts and humanities. We accept
submissions of poetry, prose, photography and artwork, from students,
staff and faculty.
Phi Rho Sigma Medical Society

Phi Rho, founded in 1890 at NUFSOM, is an international coed fraternity for medical students. Phi Rho alumni have been responsible for numerous significant advances of modern medicine and many currently hold positions of influence and prominence in academic and clinical medicine. The society serves
as a foundation for friendship, application and protection, by organizing and attending social events that enable medical students to experience Chicago's cultural and social venues.
Physicians for Human Rights (PHR)

PHR
believes that health is a human right, essential for the well-being of
all people, and works to promote this right. Health professionals
in PHR focus their work on the investigation of human rights abuses and
then strive to end them through advocacy. Some areas of work include AIDS patients in Africa and prisons in the
US. PHR at NUFSOM strives to do its part in the global effort by planning educational events and providing avenues through which the community can participate in furthering change.
Queers and Allies (Q&A)

Q&A
promotes the acceptance of LGBT students, faculty and staff, through
education and discussion of LGBT issues and rights. By organizing on-campus discussions with leaders from the community and
holding social events, Q&A aims to raise awareness ofhealthcare concerns faced by the LGBT community. In addition to
being an educational and social resource, Q&A promotes a safe space for the Feinberg LGBT community as an alliance of LGBT-friendly students, faculty and staff.

Running Club

Running Club promotes physical fitness within a group setting through
coordinated biweekly runs. It is open to all students, regardless of running ability. We would like to provide support
and motivation to students training for competitive and non-competitive events in the Chicago area (5K-marathon; duathlon/triathlon). We would also like to educate members on
medical and practical aspects of running, i.e. form, clothing, physiology, training, etc, and incorporate community service.
South Asian Medical Students Association (SAMSA)

SAMSA
is dedicated to providing quality healthcare and health education to
the increasingly underserved population of South Asians in our community. Our mission includes: educating students about issues concerning South Asian physicians, residents and medical

back to the community through charity and service work and providing students the opportunity to collaborate and exchange ideas with medical students of other schools.
Sports Medicine Interest Group (SMIG)

SMIG
is interested in providing medical students with sports
medicine-related opportunities through workshops, lunchtime speakers, physician/resident
shadows, and possibly having medical students assist team physicians at
sporting events. Sports medicine-related lunchtime
speakers/workshops include: extremities injury evaluation, current
discussions on vitamins and supplements, applying for a sports
medicine fellowship, examples of situations that involve sports
medicine physicians and common sports-related injuries.

SMH
aims to provide NU students, various opportunities to explore mental
health-related professions within and outside the Northwestern community.
We also work to promote the concept that mental health is a
fundamental part of health overall, and that an understanding of its principles is essential for education and parity in healthcare.
Unite for Sight

Unite
for Sight, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that works globally to
develop sustainable solutions to improve eye health outcomes, through eye disease prevention, eye health promotion and education.
The NUFSOM chapter seeks to improve eye healthcare for the medically underserved of Chicago by working with local community
infrastructures to improve access to health programs. Students engage
in service-based learning, fundraising for and organizing/conducting
vision screening and vision education programs.
Visual Arts Society (VAS)
President/Treasurer: Andrea Cabello
The
VAS aims to provide a forum for students to present artistic works they
have created (photos, paintings, etc.), regardless of subject matter (i.e. the pieces do not need to have a medical theme).
Our goal is to plan art-related activities, exhibits and community service projects.
Voices Against Brain Cancer (VABC)

VABC
- Northwestern is a medical student group designed to promote brain
cancer awareness and research, specifically in the area of glioblastoma
multiforme (GBM). The creation of this group was inspired by
Voices Against Brain Cancer, a charitable organization based in New
York City. VABC seeks to raise awareness of GBM through fundraising
activities and support of medical student research in neuro-oncology.
Wine Culture Club

The
Wine Culture Club seeks to educate graduate students about the many
aspects of wine, while offering opportunities for students to meet
their peers. Through guest speakers and wine tastings, we explore
historical, cultural, health and culinary topics related to wine.
