OB/GYN Interest Group and Prenatal Program

The OB/GYN Interest Group and the Prenatal Program offers M1s and M2s the exciting opportunity to learn about obstetrics and women's healthcare, early in their medical school career.  In the OB/GYN Interest Group, students have the opportunity to shadow in a variety of women's healthcare settings, including labor and delivery, gynecological surgeries, outpatient gynecology, genetics, maternal-fetal medicine, ultrasound, reproductive endocrinology and infertility.  Shadowing takes place throughout the year with physicians and midwives within the NMH system. The group also brings in speakers for lunchtime discussions.  In the Prenatal Program, students are matched with pregnant women who are entering their second trimester and attend all prenatal visits, from routine checkups and ultrasound exams to amniocentesis.  The experience culminates in the student attending labor and delivery.  From hands-on participation during physical exams and delivery, students gain unique and valuable experiences in long-term patient care.
